RED LAKE, MN - The new $21 million Seven Clans Casino, Hotel and Event Center its doors to the public today. The official Grand Opening celebration is scheduled for January 21-23, 2010.

The design for the new casino complex is derived from Red Lake culture. It includes wood paneling, field stone, woodland floral carpeting, and images of a rippled blue lake reflecting themes of the area. Rooms are named for the seven major clans of Red Lake.

The casino features 300 machines, four blackjack tables and two poker tables. There is a sanck bar named 'The Take a Break' in the casino.

The hotel has 40 rooms including a few master suites with balconies, fireplaces, and whirlpool tubs. Rates are $69 to $109 per night. A gift shop sells Native American arts and crafts. The hotel also has a swimming pool shaped exactly like Upper and Lower Red Lake.

Raymond Brenny, Seven Clans Casinos chief operating officer, said the hotel area has an events center to seat 800 in classroom style and between 350 to 400 banquet style. 'The center is very suitable for a variety of events, banquets, and meetings and will also then provide needed meeting space for Tribal workshops or retreats'.

The Warrior's Restaurant serves a full menu that includes Red Lake walleye, pasta, salads and steak. It seats 75 diners plus 25 more on an outside patio during fair weather.

The visitor parking lot has spaces for 375 cars.

The casino complex also includes a new propane plant business to serve the reservation and surrounding area. A retail center will be built near the water tower next Spring. It will include a full-service store with groceries, gas station, and arts and crafts. Red Lake Foods will sell items including wild rice, Red Lake walleye, wild berry jams, maple syrup, and birch bark crafts.
